Musings From the Genny: Week of July 21, 2025

I think it is no secret that The Genny is filled with a bunch of goofballs. Some of you might remember walking into the store in the early days, only to be launched into one of Emily's impromptu dance parties (set to something from the 80s, no doubt). Maybe you have walked by the deli case only to see some of the kitchen staff hunched over in breathless laughter and wondered to yourself, "What's so funny?!". Whether it is being embarrassingly silly in a holiday video or lightening the mood with a pee-in-your-pants level joke, we here at The Genny believe in the power of a good bit. This job can be hard. Customer service and kitchen work aren't for the faint of heart! We have found the best remedy for when something goes wrong--say a bear gets into your trash for a week straight or your cooler goes down for some mysterious reason--is to find a way to laugh about it. Milton Berle once said, "laughter is an instant vacation," and boy, could we all use one!!!
