Spring Musings
April vacation seems so perfectly timed with nature this year. Our family travelled to Florida to soak up some sun; and returned to 60 degree temps, budding trees, and green grass. I am always astonished by how good it feels to come home. It feels like my eyes open that much wider to just how much I love this community.
Last Thursday was my first day back to work, which for us is our “order day.” We spend the morning receiving product and shuffling it around the store to restock the depleted shelves. There is often a rendition of a yacht rock anthem or perhaps a Taylor Swift hit, lots of chatter with our customers and inevitably a great deal of laughter. The front door is open so folks can breeze in and out effortlessly to the sound of tractors rolling through town. On this particular day I stepped outside briefly to chat with Farley and was greeted by her husband John. John sat down on our old wooden bench and proceeded to recite two incredibly cheesy jokes….my favorite kind.
Getting out of town is wonderful, but coming home to this sweet small town store is actual perfection in my book.
