Musings From the Genny: Week of October 6th

MUSINGS FROM THE GENNY

Ten years ago this month, our good pals, Harry, Jeremiah, and Dave ripped off the old front porch of the store and built us a brand new one. The Genny just isn't the Genny without that sweet spot out front where, over the years, many of our favorite people have gathered.

Brian Flynn, who passed away a few years ago, loved to sit on that porch with his coffee, doctored with hazelnut syrup, and his cloth tote of groceries. Brian, affectionately known as our "Genny publicist," was known for reaching out to various news outlets to request coverage of our store.

We know it is a Monday morning when we see our pals Kristin, Heather, and Kris assembled on the benches after their weekly stroll together.  And, we can always count on a sweet albeit quiet doggie greeting from Tulip when she and Todd relax near the store entrance.

That porch has taken a beating, and Harry Miller could tell you just how many times he’s replaced the brackets to porch railings, yet that old porch remains ready to hold all those who come in and out of our sweet little town…

But try not to back into those darn railings, right, Harry?
