Musings From the Genny: Week of June 16th, 2025
Memorial Day is often referenced as the unofficial start to summer, but for those of us living in Northern Vermont the true beginning of summer is the last day of school. This year, June 19th marks the end of the academic year here in Craftsbury. And with that, comes so much reflection. It has been a wild ride watching so many Genny kids grow up. Our own children are now part of this rhythm. Youngsters that marched down from the elementary school in their halloween costumes those first few years after we opened, are now graduating from high school.
Part of the sweetness of General Store life is bringing young adults into our fold. Dozens of high school aged kids have had their first job here at The Genny. It isn’t always smooth and can often be quite comical, but it is perhaps one of the most gratifying experiences for us as owners. They say “It takes a Village,” and we are honored to be part of this one and hope we have done our part.
To all of the graduates and specifically those on our staff Wyatt, Maia, Ruth, and Anika; Congratulations!!! We are so proud of you! School's out for summer!!
