Musings from The Genny

This last week, we had the most sublime stretch of summer weather in the Kingdom–70 plus degree days, sun and fairly bug free (the greatest miracle of all!). The energy in the store was markedly heightened and there was an overall sense of busyness that reminded us that, even though it is still Spring, SUMMER IS COMING! Don’t get me wrong, we LOVE summer in all its splendor. I mean, it’s why we put up with those often bleak shoulder seasons and 6 months of snow shoveling. It’s just that the velocity in which summer comes rushing in can be disorienting. More light and warmth means more people and activities and throngs of tourists needing their sandwiches and sundries.

I like to think every year we get a little wiser and more prepared for this change. We are really trying to take the lessons of previous summers to make a more sane and enjoyable experience for ourselves, our employees and our customers. We are going into 2025 summer with better systems, a truly incredible staff and an eye on our own capacities, so we can all make space to enjoy this beautiful season. Whether it’s sitting on the sidelines of your kids t-ball game, taking a bike ride with friends or sitting on the porch of the Genny watching cars go by, I hope you all find time to slow down and take it all in.
