Introducing: The Genny FREE-zers

Some of you might remember the innovative Everyone Eats Program that served as a bridge between Vermonters needing food assistance and the local farm and food businesses during the pandemic.

Through the program, the Genny provided thousands of free meals to the community paid for by FEMA and the Vermont legislature. However, once these funds dried up there wasn’t anything to replace it.

For the last few years, we’ve run our own program called “Genny Meals”, which has provided free sandwiches to customers who needed one. We recently paused that program in order to figure out how to best allocate donated funds to make the process as simple and accessible to our community as possible.

Today we are excited to announce The Genny FREE-zer Program! A FREE-zer will sit on the porch of both stores (well technically the patio in Craftsbury) and be filled with nutritious, single-serve meals available at no cost to anyone who needs one.

If you’d like to support the FREE-zer program, you can:

1. Buy a meal for the FREE-zer at the register (a $5 donation), or

2. Order a Vermont Snack Box for someone you care about

Your support helps pay for the production of more soups and casseroles to be added to The Genny FREE-zers. Spread the word!
