Chateau Clos Petit-Corbin Saint-Emilion Grand Cru

A truly stellar bottle, this Bordeaux blend really impressed me. Saint-Emilion is known for Merlot-heavy blends and this one offers up a surprising earthiness under the classic darker fruit flavors the grapes are known for. With highlights of herbs, this wine is begging to be paired up with classic French cooking: beef bourguignon, roast lamb, cassoulet. Hearty, winter comfort. It’s interesting to compare this estate wine with the younger brighter Lapierre bottle.
